Car Rental in Antalya

No deposit, full insurance with no excess, delivered at the airport. Everything you need to know on one page.

00Why we wrote this page

We have been renting cars in Antalya since 2016. The same questions have come in ever since: do I really need a car, or will the bus do? How long does it take to reach Kaş? Is my foreign licence valid? What will I be handed at pick-up?

We answer all of them on the phone. But somebody who prefers to plan a holiday by reading needed it in writing. This is that place.

We measured every distance rather than guessing. We put the prices in as they are. We also wrote down what is not covered — because a page is only useful if it states the limits as plainly as the good parts.

Whether you rent from us or from someone else: let this page be your guide.

1Antalya and pick-up

01Why you should rent a car in Antalya

Antalya is not "a city" but a coastline more than 300 kilometres long. Kaş sits at its western end, Alanya at its eastern end; roughly 315 kilometres between the two by way of the airport. The places worth seeing are spread along the whole of it.

The western arm

Starts at Kemer and runs along the Lycian coast as far as Kalkan and Patara.

The stretch between Finike, Demre, Kekova, Kaş and Kalkan hugs the shore and winds a great deal; expect these legs to take longer than the table says.

The eastern arm

Starts just east of the airport; the road is flat and mostly dual carriageway.

If you are going further afield

These are not day trips; they call for at least one night away. We do one-way drop-offs in Dalaman, so if you fly out from there you can leave the car there.

All distances are measured from Antalya Airport. The times are for clear roads; in July and August allow extra on the coastal road.

How it compares with public transport

You can reach these places by bus — sometimes directly, more often with a change. But a bus stops everywhere and the journey multiplies. A concrete example:

Antalya → KaşTime
By bus5–6 hours
By car3 hours

Your return time is tied to the last bus, too. Places like Köprülü Canyon, Çıralı and Kekova have no regular service at all.

Every point on the two arms above is a day trip by car. 200 kilometres a day are included and counted as a total: on a five-day rental you have 1,000 kilometres, and doing 400 one day and 50 the next is no problem.

02Pick-up at Antalya Airport

Antalya Airport is large; the domestic and international terminals are separate and the arrivals halls get busy in summer. Our aim is simple: to get you from there into the driver's seat as quickly as possible.

We track your flight

Leave your flight number on the booking and we will follow the rest.

Your plane is five hours late — your car will be waiting five hours. No extra charge, and your pick-up time shifts by itself.

Without a flight number the car is held for two hours. That is the only difference, and it is why we suggest adding it.

03Other pick-up points and one-way drop-off

We bring the car to your hotel, your home or your office. We collect it from the same place.

Airport (both terminals) and the city-centre officeAlways free

Other pointsBy the distance measured from our office

Delivery to Gazipaşa, Dalaman and the Muğla coast is available on rentals of at least 5 days. Elsewhere the minimum rental is 3 days.

Dropping off elsewhere: how the fee is worked out

You may leave the car somewhere other than where you picked it up. The rule is one sentence:

The fee is not the distance between where you take the car and where you leave it. It is the distance from each of those points to our office.

An example: you pick the car up in Kaş and leave it in Alanya. We look at office–Kaş and office–Alanya. The distance between Kaş and Alanya never enters the calculation.

Three things this gives you

Delivery and collection are calculated separately; both appear as their own line in the booking summary, with the kilometres shown.

2What you pay

04The price and what it includes

The daily rate depends on the class of car and on the month. Each car's current daily rate is shown on its own card.

Included in the price:

The only charges that can come afterwards are these: motorway tolls, missing fuel, any traffic fine, 7 ₺ per kilometre if you go over the included mileage, and late return. All of them are worked out against documents when you return the car; no service fee is added on top.

Nothing beyond those five. We charge no cleaning fee, we take no deposit, and we sell no extra insurance at hand-over.

Long-stay discount

LengthDiscount
3–6 days—
7–14 days2%
15–27 days4%
28 days and over10%

The discount is published on the site and appears in the price by itself; you need neither ask for it nor haggle. In winter (November to March) monthly rates also fall noticeably; in that season a whole month can cost close to a few days in July or August.

We sell you nothing at hand-over

You see the price on screen and pay the same amount at hand-over. No extra insurance or package is put in front of you when you collect the car.

We have nothing to sell you, because the insurance already has no excess and is in the price. The two items that are not covered are set out in section 8.

05Extras

Luggage capacityEach car card states the number of large and cabin-size cases separately

06Deposit, cards and payment

A deposit is security taken when you collect the car: usually an amount is blocked on your card and sits there until the rental ends. We take no deposit. The only thing you pay is the rental itself.

A hold (pre-authorisation) does not take money off your card but does take the amount off your limit. You cannot spend that money on holiday, and releasing it takes weeks at some banks. Only the rental amount is charged to your card; nothing is held.

A credit card is not required. Cash (lira, euros, dollars), a debit card or a bank transfer — whichever suits you.

Payment in advance is not required. You may pay beforehand by transfer or through a payment link we send; otherwise you pay at hand-over. Cancellation is free at every stage — if you paid in advance and then cancel, the full amount is returned the same way, without deduction, within 3 working days at the latest.

We do not ask for your card details

We never ask for your card number — not on the site, not on the phone, not on WhatsApp. There is no field on the page that takes a card. Data we do not collect cannot leak.

If a message reaches you asking for your card number on behalf of 3RED, that message is not from us.

No cookie is created on the site unless you allow it.

3The car and the insurance

07The cars

You get the car you chose. The contract does not say "or similar". If a change becomes unavoidable we tell you in advance and go through alternatives in the same class with you. There are no surprises at hand-over.

No car in the fleet is more than two years old. Because the cars are under warranty, servicing and repairs are done at the authorised dealer. Scheduled servicing, insurance, replacing worn tyres and the roadworthiness test are our responsibility — on monthly rentals too; you only pay for fuel.

We drive these cars ourselves. If we are not happy with how one smells or how clean it is, we do not give it to you either.

Automatic or manual

Both. Most of the fleet is automatic. You choose the transmission when you book, and no car is delivered with a transmission other than the one you chose.

Traffic inside Antalya is heavy and the coast roads are winding and steep. If you will be stopping often in town, an automatic is markedly more comfortable. Manual cars are a little cheaper per day and slightly more economical on fuel, but there are fewer of them and they get hard to find in high season.

08Insurance and the excess

With comprehensive cover the thing that matters is the excess. The excess is the amount, up to a limit, that is charged to you if the car is damaged.

We have no excess. Damage costs you nothing out of pocket.

Provided a police report is filed, accident, damage, theft and glass breakage are covered.

The two items that are not covered

Neither of these voids the insurance; only that one item falls outside the cover, and the rental carries on as normal.

Two situations void the insurance altogether: driving under the influence of alcohol, and letting someone not named in the contract take the wheel. In those two cases the whole of the damage is the renter's. Nothing else voids the insurance.

09If there is an accident or a breakdown

In an accident call 112 first and us second. Without a police accident report the insurance cannot proceed.

If the car becomes undriveable we give you a replacement — whoever was at fault. Within 24 hours at the latest in nearby areas; further out the time depends on the distance. For minor damage the rental continues in the same car.

Recovery is covered by the insurance. Repair costs are not passed on to you.

4The driver and the rules

10Driver requirements and licences

Age and licence: 21 or over, with a licence held for at least 2 years. The BMW 3.20 requires 25 and a licence held for 3 years.

What to bring: your passport and a valid driving licence. Nothing else. If you send photographs of them on WhatsApp beforehand, hand-over is faster still.

Driving in Turkey on a foreign licence

Your own country's licence is valid. Turkey is party to the 1949 Geneva and 1968 Vienna conventions. You may drive on your own licence for 6 months from your last entry into Turkey. At hand-over we look at the entry date in your passport.

Is an international driving permit required?

Do I need to get a Turkish licence? Not for a tourist rental. If you stay in Turkey longer than 6 months, converting your licence to a Turkish one is a legal requirement.

If you are a Turkish citizen and your licence was issued abroad, you may rent for at most 1 year from your last entry.

11Two things we ask of you

1. Do not drink and drive. For us this is not a clause about the car. Do not put your own life, the lives of the people with you, or anyone else's on the road at risk.

2. Nobody whose name is not in the contract should take the wheel. Adding a driver is easy and the fee is in the extras table; a licence and a passport at hand-over are enough. If your partner or a friend will be driving, say so at hand-over and it is done in five minutes.

These two are what void the insurance; there is no third. Tyre damage and the wrong fuel do not void it — only that item falls outside the cover; the detail is in section 8.

12Driving rules in Turkey

Traffic drives on the right.

WhereSpeed limit
In built-up areas50 km/h
Single carriageway between towns90 km/h
Dual carriageway110 km/h
Motorway120 km/h

13How you return the car

Fuel. You return the car at the fuel level you received it at. If it is short, it is charged at the current pump price; no service charge, handling fee or commission is added. Putting the wrong fuel in (diesel in a petrol car or the other way round) is outside the insurance cover.

No smoking. The whole of our fleet is smoke-free and we would like to keep it that way.

You may bring a pet, at no extra cost. We ask you to leave the car tidy when you return it; we charge nothing for cleaning.

Cleaning is on us. Whatever state you return the car in, this never appears on your bill.

5Booking and contact

14Booking and contact

Choose the car, the dates and the pick-up point on the site and send us your request. We confirm availability and come back to you; once confirmed, your car is made ready.

In July and August the fleet fills almost completely; in those months we suggest writing at least two weeks ahead.

Our phone is open around the clock. You can call day or night for the whole rental; the line is not tied to the office.

The office is open 08:30–19:00 on weekdays and by appointment at weekends. We reply to messages within an hour during working hours.

15A last word

We are not just handing you a car. If your flight is delayed we wait, we bring the car to you, and damage costs you nothing out of pocket.
